Construction works of the Marítimo de Castilla Hermida Paseo begin, with an investment of 2.2 million euros-Press NOTE (02/28/2014)

The mayor of Santander, Íñigo de la Serna, and the president of the Port Authority, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, accompanied by the neighborhood associations of the area, attended at the beginning of the construction works of the Paseo Marítimo de Castilla-Hermida, which They will be finished in the month of October and carry an investment by the City Council of 2.2 million euros.
De la Serna highlighted during the act that it is “a historical moment for the accelerated process of rejuvenation of the maritime front and modernization of spaces so far underutilized or not opened to public use, which will make the environment of Castilla-Hermida a much more human and more habitable space. ”
The president of the Port Authority of Santander, an agency that has yielded all lands for this new space, has reiterated its willingness to collaborate so much in this project, “which will substantially modify for better this whole environment and will improve the quality of life of the neighbors ”, as in all the actions that are being executed on the maritime front.
The walk will be more than 600 meters in length and incorporates an area of almost 30,000 square meters, of which 22,000 will be new free spaces for the enjoyment of the neighbors. The project will be developed in the area included from Héroes de la Navy Street to La Marga, on land made available by the Port Authority of Santander. In addition to generating a new walk around the Cantil del Muelle, the project contemplates the creation of green areas, a new bicycle lane of 1,200 square meters, a new sports zone of 250 square meters with two tracks to play basketball, and A children's play area, bordering on the new great place that will be generated in this space.
