The Cabo Mayor Art Center hosted the presentation of the book ‘The rest is darkness’ ”, which have coordinated the writers Pilar Quirosa-Cheyrouze and Mario Sanz Cruz, and with design of the publicist and painter Ernesto Pedalino.
During 2013, the Almeria headlights of Cabo de Gata and Mesa Roldán, two headlights that continue to carry out their work at full performance. The Faro de Roquetas also celebrates 150 years, which remains off since 1945, but happily recovered for exhibition hall. The same happens with many other headlights throughout Spain, since that year was the culminating of the Coast Signal Plan of 1857. For example, here, in the community of Cantabria, this year the Lighthouse of Suances turns 150 years and the year The fisherman's lighthouse comes.
This book, published by the Association "Disery-artefact", which intended to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the oldest maritime signals in Almería, has ceased to be a local celebration and, thanks to the contributions of artists and writers born in 31 provinces of Spain and in 14 different countries, has become a song to the headlights in general.
In this publication, of 361 pages in full color, we can find the work of 183 collaborators who have contributed their poetry, their narrative and their art. A luxury cast with very important names in literature, photography and plastic arts, united by the essential light of maritime signals. Together they have managed to make a real tribute to the headlights around the world, each one from their point of view, taking advantage of their light in a different way, expressing their art, their opinion, their feelings, their personal experiences; To demonstrate that the headlights are very ours, historical buildings that deserve to be kept and care; To make it clear that the headlights have always been much more than maritime signals.
