The stern of Juan Sebastián Elcano has been the privileged place from which the celebration in September 2014 of the III Sea Festival was announced, an event that will coincide with the Candle World Cup.
The presentation was present at the Mayor of Santander, Íñigo de la Serna, the Minister of Tourism of the Regional Government, Eduardo Arasti, the president of the Port Authority of Santander, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, the director of the World Cup, Rafael Munilla, and the representative of the Villas del Cantabrico Foundation, Antonio Longarella, entity in charge of the organization of the Festival.
The latter estimated that in this edition there will be more boats than in the last of 2009, when 10 great sailboats arrived in Santander. They also expect greater public participation, exceeding 300,000 people.
For his part, the president of the APS, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso transferred the unconditional commitment of the institution to the development of the Maritime Front, and the Candle World and stressed that 2014 will be a very special year since the inauguration of the center coincides Booty and the World Cup.
Aasti referred to the important impact that the festival and the World Cup will have in sectors such as hospitality and commerce.
The mayor of Santander announced that in 2014 we could attend the appointment of Santander as the European Sports City, a possibility that a committee of experts from the European Union is evaluating.
