The Palace del Embarcadero hosts the exhibition ‘between walls’ with photographs of Santander based in Mexico, Bernardo Aja. The sample is jointly organized by the Port Authority of Santander and the Menéndez Pelayo International University. The images that are exhibited manage to introduce the viewer in two temporalities, current families that maintain past centuries, combining a contemporary aesthetic with waste from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The relationship between the characters and their intimate space reveal to us the weight of inheritance, the will, the loss and registration of a generation that is lost between two walls, between two lives. The images that are exhibited until July 3 in Santander have been captured in different parts of Cantabria, specifically in Casas de las Fraguas and the Corrales de Buelna, Lima, Lisbon and Mexico. ‘Between walls’ are collective portraits, of families within houses, in this sense, the author is considered a “fisgen” since it is introduced into the environments, in the houses to capture the intimacy of its inhabitants. In the palace, 10 images of a total of 50 that make up the ‘between walls’ project are exhibited. Of these, 7 are large format (3 x 3 meters) printed on mural paper, 2 medium format (1 x 1 meter) and one of small format. The author himself printed the photographs in his study in Mexico. This project that began 15 years ago in Lima, a city where the author lived, is about to finish. According to Aja, "in Mexico I have a photo and from there to Manila, where I would like to portray several families, since in this city colonial ways of life still survive that are disagree with the current reality." Bernardo Aja is already working on another ‘Storm’ project, which these days is exhibited in Havana Vieja.
