Recently, a worldwide meeting was held in London in which representatives of the entire transport and management chain of containers and operators of port terminals participate, and in which the port of Santander is present. This great appointment, Toc Europe, summoned more than 4,000 professionals in the international port sector and logistics. Within the Toc Europe program, one of the sessions was dedicated to environmental management in the management of the bulk, and two cases were presented to study, one of them the solid bulk terminal of the port of Santander managed by Noatum. In her presentation, the director of the Port of Santander, Cristina López, and the director of Noatum Terminal Granles Santander, Víctor Conde, and in it they presented the problems that were generated with the discharge of solid granles, especially coal, before having the modern terminal and how they promoted the search for solutions that resulted in construction. Thus, Cristina López contextualized through a geographical description of the port and her surroundings the condition that occurred in certain areas of the city in the face of coal discharge, and even in the Santander Bay itself. Throughout his exhibition he referred to the possible solutions that were valued until he defined what technically offered more guarantees, which was the construction of the terminal that began operating in 2007. For his part, Víctor Conde gave a wide technical vision of the terminal, from its location, and structure to some data on its operation. Thus, among others, he said that 2,000 tons can be downloaded per hour, or that it has a capacity to store up to 2,300,000 tons per year. Finally, it referred to the advantages of an infrastructure such as a port such as Santander, and that go through the elimination of environmental problems, the improvement in the development of corporate social responsibility and for the economic impact it has within the Puerto A terminal like Noatum Terminal Granles Santander.
