Inaugurated in El Palacete del Embarcadero La Expos

16 Oct 2013
The Palace del Embarcadero hosts the exhibition “Ferroatlántica, a century of Spanish and Cantabrian industry”, which was inaugurated in an act that was attended by Alberto Fuentes, director of Ferroatlántica and José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, president of the Port Authority. Both authorities had brief words for the gathered public in this act. José Joaquín Martínez Sieso explained that "I am convinced that in 100 years many things will have happened in the factory, but your ability to adapt, innovation and response has allowed you to continue here, in this region." He also thanked the presence of the sample in the Palace of the Discourse, as well as the use of the port of Santander, where this Ferroatlantic year has received 300,000 T of manganese mineral. Alberto Fuentes, on the other hand, alluded to the site chosen for the exhibition as “incomparable” and thanked the collaboration provided. "The objective of this exhibition has been to show an unknown sector for the citizen, the ferroaleations, despite being indispensable for the manufacture of steel, where for each ton produced a 1% ferroaleation is necessary." The exhibition is composed of a large family photo in which the factory employees pose, in 1944, which receives the visitor in their access to the main room. It is a powerful black and white image in which "appreciates the effort and dedication of all the workers who have collaborated with the Boo factory since 1913". The centerpiece of the exhibition is a structure formed by thirty historical photographs where we find daily images that reflect the day -to -day life of the factory and the process of expansion, growth and modernization of manufacturing facilities throughout the different decades. The exhibition continues with a large retro wall in which the production data, installed power and the most relevant events that have marked the history of the factory are provided, since 1913 until our day, in addition to showing the production process, the important investments made, applications of the finished product and their distribution in international markets. An informative panel with current data and information about the Villar Mir group complete the sample. Finally, the visitor can access a next room with audiovisual material, which summarizes the hundred years of history of this factory. The exhibition will remain open to the public until October 30, from Monday to Sunday. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the morning, and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
