José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, president of the Port Authority of Santander, participated in the Spring Meeting of the Association for Collaboration between Ports and Cities, withhold, as president on duty of this association. During the meeting, the governing board meeting took place under the presidency of Martínez Sieso, and subsequently a seminar in which different port models and port-city integration were analyzed. In the seminar the works of different researchers on port models and developments were exposed. The exhibitions revolved around local dynamics in a globalized world, and addressed urban, architectural and business aspects, illustrated with examples such as the ports of Montevideo, or Puerto Limón, in Costa Rica. In the second seminar session, the architect Alejandro Zaera-Polo, a designer of the projects of the new Ferries Terminal and the CEAR headquarters of the 2014 Vela World Cup in Santander , and Zaida Musí, professor of the ETS of architecture of Barcelona. On the second day of the Spring Meeting of Rete, the case of Malaga, the new productive model of its port and its urban impact was analyzed. Rete Rete, the Association for Collaboration between Ports and Cities was born in 2004 in Venice, as a non -profit entity, whose mission is to build an international network of port and port cities, with special reference to those of southern and Mediterranean Europe and of Latin America, with the aim of developing and improving mutual relationship and collaboration, to achieve a balanced and qualified development of urban and port areas. The main lines of action are constituted as a platform for access to knowledge in fields linked to the study of the problem of the port city and its relationship with the port; be a permanent observatory of the dynamics of port cities and define itself as an active laboratory from which the production, analysis and dissemination of new ideas capable of inspiring innovative actions and reforms in the field of port cities is stimulated. Rete is international and founding countries were Spain, Italy and Portugal. As partners are, among others, the ports of Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Santander, Malaga, La Coruña, Bilbao, Genoa, Palermo, Azores, Madeira, Castellón, Gran Canaria, Sevilla, Tenerife or Gijón. Currently, the presidency on duty corresponds to the port of Santander, personalized in its person responsible, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso.
