After going through the most conflicted points related to the intrusion into the port and checking first-hand how the coordination devices work among the main ones involved in the fight against this problem in the Port Service Zone, the delegate of the Government, Ainoa Quiñones; Innovation, Industry, Transport and Trade Advisor Francisco Martín and port Authority President Jaime González agreed to point out the high degree of institutional cooperation that was in place to address this conflict.
Thus, among the measures taken by the Advisory Committee on the Protection of the Port Authority of Santander to try to stop the continuous increase in the number of intruders and thus protect both the offenders themselves and the commercial interests of the port, is the reinforcement of thirty Civil Guard personnel to strengthen the security device. In addition, the tender for the new port fence is being accelerated, security sensor systems are being updated and a compound is being built in the Logistics Activities Area to protect unrecompanied semi-trailers during their waiting at the port to board for the UK.

This wall, which has an execution period of four months, will have a dimension of 10,600 m2, expandable in case of need to another 10,000 m2. The construction will be done with prefabricated steed modules 4 meters high and 2 wide.
With regard to developments in intrusion into the Port Service Zone, the measures taken are paying off by acting as a deterrent, reducing the number of attempts at illegal access to the ferry terminal.
