A delegation of the Port Authority of Riga formed by its president, Andris Ameriks; the executive director, Leonids Loginovs; One of the members of the Board of Directors, Mihails Lamenckis and the Director of International Affairs, Irina Gorbatikova, has visited the port of Santander where they were received by the president of the Port Authority, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso; the head of corporate activities, José Ramón Ruiz Manso, and a person in charge of infrastructure, Rubén Suárez.
During the meeting of the delegations of both ports, which have been twinned since the late nineties, a visit to the main terminals of the port of Santander was made, specifically to that of solid bulk managed by Noatum; that of food solid bulk managed by rate and vehicles located in Raos 8.
Previously, a meeting was held in which presentations of the ports of Riga and Santander were held.
The port of Riga is located in the Baltic Sea, where it is the first port of traffic volume after the Russian ports. In 2014, it moved more than 40 million tons, and its facilities have the capacity to reach 58 million. This multifunctional port, has as important traffic coal, fertilizer and wood chips, with a total of 20 terminals where these goods move. Other terminals are dedicated to ro -ro traffic, containers, wood ... a total of 200 companies operate in this port of northern Europe.
