Around 35,000 people gathered on Thursday, September 11 at the Las Llamas Park to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2014 Vela World Cup that is celebrated these days in the waters of the Bay of Santander.
The act was developed over two hours in which there was a registist parade from the 85 participating countries, authorities speech, dance show, interpretation of the World Cup anthem and, as a climax, an air exhibition of the Army Eagle Patrol of the air that drew in the Santander sky the flag of Spain.
There was also the oath of athletes and judges, the first in charge of the farmhouse Cantabrian Berta Betanzos and the second by a judge of Chinese nationality.
The candle World Cup will be played until September 21.
