The port of Santander will receive next October 7 and 15 the visit of two new cruise ships: the "Hanseatic Nature" and the "Spirit of Adventure", respectively. Both ships, considered luxury, will remain in the port facilities for about ten hours. For the president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), Francisco Martin, this is "a symptom" of the recovery of cruise tourism, "an industry of high purchasing power" that contributes "to the deseasonalization of tourism". Martín has assured that the APS "will continue working to recover and even surpass the cruise traffic prior to the pandemic" and has highlighted "the joint work" of the different administrations every time a stopover takes place. In this regard, the Minister of Industry, Tourism, Innovation, Transport and Trade, Javier López Marcano, has highlighted "the alliance" formed by the APS, the Government of Cantabria and the City of Santander, under the brand Santander Cruise Deluxe, aims to "promote this type of traffic making Santander a port of reference for cruise ships on the northern coast of the Iberian Peninsula". Marcano has highlighted "the effort" that is being made "to try to capture a good part of the approximately 200 annual cruises that sail through the Bay of Biscay, mostly with origin or destination in the port of Southampton, southwest of London". Hanseatic Nature This ship, consigned by Marmetsa and owned by the shipping company Hapag Lloyd, will visit Santander next October 7 with 170 passengers and 166 crew members on board.
