The Council will also authorize the occupation of 5,000 m2 to the Santander Free Trade Zone to promote the development of industrial, commercial and mercantile activities.
Santander 07/10/2021. The Board of Directors of the Port Authority will discuss at its meeting tomorrow, Friday, the proposal to grant a concession to the Friends of Puertochico Sports Club to occupy, in the Molnedo Dock, a water surface of 4,153 m2 and a subsoil surface of 6.5 m2. The objective is that the Association can continue for a period of 15 years with the occupation of the port public domain that it has been enjoying under concession and that expired in 2022.
The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), Francisco Martin, said that this concession, which "foreseeably" will be approved by the highest governing body of the port, carries with it the commitment by the Club of an investment of about 600 thousand euros "significant for this type of concession" in order to make the facility "safer and more efficient and can ensure the stability of the pontoons and the integrity of the 192 boats moored in the water sheet".
The application submitted by the sports club, which is not subject to call for tender as it is not for profit and does not exceed 20% of the number of moorings for boats over 12 meters in length, provides for the elimination of dead, anchor trains and all types of submerged structures, the installation of floating pontoons for the mooring of sports boats, the channeling for power supply to the facilities of the concession and the improvement of access control.
On the other hand, the Board of Directors will study the proposal to grant a concession to the Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Santander for the occupation of 4,927 m2 in the Maliaño Pier.
This concession will be approved under the agreement reached by both entities to compensate the Free Zone after the rescue "for port interest" of part of the concession, owned by the Consortium, granted by the Ministry of Development in 1920 to occupy "the public domain land affected by the approved project of free port.
As explained Martin, the destination of this land, whose concession will be granted until May 2041, is to "promote and encourage the development of industrial, commercial and commercial activities in the Free Zone, typical of this entity.
