The Port Authority of Santander donates a work from its Art Collection to the Patio Herreriano Museum in Valladolid.

Habitación Anónima, by Victoria Civera, was part of the exhibition Portuaria: Does the Port have an art collection? which marked the reopening of the Sotoliva building.

The president of the APS, Francisco Martín, has stressed that both the new exhibition hall and the Luz de Música Festival, "have been a fundamental part of the commemorative program of the 150th Anniversary of the Port and highlighted by the Observatory of Culture of the Contemporary Foundation as some of the most outstanding cultural developments in Spain in 2022".

Santander April 19, 2023. The Port Authority of Santander (APS) has loaned a work from its Art Collection to the Museo del Patio Herreriano in Valladolid (MPH), on the occasion of the exhibition El tiempo es circular en el silencio, a retrospective that the MPH is dedicating to the artist Victoria Civera from April 22 to September 17.

The piece in question is Habitación anónima (Anonymous Room), an installation in wood, paint and various materials, a work that originated in the exhibition Victoria Civera held at the Palacete del Embarcadero in 1993 as part of the Ars in-house production program, the core of the Santander Port Authority's Art Collection.

The piece was restored last year 2022 and has been part of the exhibition Portuaria: Does the Port have an art collection, made entirely with art funds of the APS, which has led to the reopening of the Nave Sotoliva as an exhibition hall and one of the central events of the program of the 150th anniversary of the Port of Santander, along with the festival Luz de Música. As recalled by the president of the APS, Francisco Martin, "both offers have been highlighted by the Observatory of Culture of the Contemporary Foundation as some of the most outstanding cultural developments in Spain in 2022". As for the transfer of the work, Martin has stressed that "this loan accounts for the value of the Art Collection of the Port Authority of Santander, as well as its national and international projection."

According to Patio Herreriano. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Español, "El tiempo es circular en el silencio" is a large-scale exhibition dedicated to the work of Victoria Civera (Puerto de Sagunto, Valencia, 1955), one of the most relevant Spanish artists of recent decades.

Well known for her figurative painting, the Valencian artist, who lives between Cantabria and New York, has nevertheless been displaying an open and heterogeneous work that transcends any classification, as her oeuvre combines painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation. The title of the exhibition, taken from an expression of Civera herself, appeals to circularity as the opposite of linearity, from which she has always fled and of which she has made her main hallmark.

The exhibition, which can be visited from April 22 to September 17, will show works from all periods from institutional and private collections from all over Spain, with special emphasis on the 1990s, fundamental to know the work of the Valencian creator and her inscription in the artistic practices in our country. The exhibition will also include an important group of works on paper, less known, and very relevant in the creative process of the artist.
