Carlos Bonaplata has delivered this morning a commemorative plaque to the president of the Port Authority and the team that made possible the successful stay of the ship in the port. Santander 05-10-22. The president of the Port Authority, Francisco Martín, has received today from the hands of the Naval Commander, Carlos Bonaplata, a metope "in gratitude for the support given to the Naval Command on the occasion of the call of the ship J.S. Elcano". The visit took place last June within the acts of commemoration of the V Centenary of the First Round the World Race, captained by Juan Sebastián de Elcano, who gives his name to this ship. For his part, Martin thanked this gesture and stressed the "good understanding" between the two institutions "essential to carry out the daily work". The president of the APS also recalled that the visit of the Elcano to Santander took place in a "very emotional" week for the port since, at the same time, H.M. the King visited the port facilities on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the port of Santander and "we could confirm both the affection that the citizenship has for the monarch and how expected the visit of the ship was". During the award ceremony were also present the second naval commander of Santander, Carlos Fernández Plata; the director of the APS, Santiago Díaz Fraile; the head of the operation area of the APS, David Marcano; the head of the maintenance area of the APS, Alberto Rodríguez and the port commissioner, Juan Antonio García.
