The King visits the Port of Santander to commemorate the 150th anniversary of its creation
The president of the Port Authority of Santander, Francisco Martin, accompanied Felipe VI on his tour of the main port facilities and explained how the port faces its future.
Santander 23-06-22. The president of the Port Authority of Santander, Francisco Martin, this morning accompanied King Felipe VI on his visit to the facilities of the port of Santander, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.
The King was also accompanied by the Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats; the president of Cantabria, Miguel Angel Revilla; the president of the Parliament, Joaquin Gomez; the delegate of the Government, Ainoa Quiñones; the president of Puertos del Estado, Alvaro Rodriguez Dapena; the mayors of Santander and Camargo, Gema Igual and Esther Bolado, respectively, and most of the councilors of Cantabria.
Martín pointed out the promising future of the port, "once the more than 170 million of public-private investment that are currently under execution and that will change the skyline of the main infrastructure of Cantabria have materialized".
Thus, Felipe VI has been able to check the progress of the works of such important projects as the completion of Pier 9 of Raos, the vertical silo of cars, Raos 6, the new ferry, container and fertilizer terminals or the supply station of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
During his visit, he also greeted port staff and the Board of Directors, as well as representatives of the port companies.
