Food and necessities pick-up service begins at Palacete del Embarcadero

The service of collecting food and necessities begins at the Palacete del Embarcadero The President of Cantabria, Miguel Angel Revilla, today inaugurated the solidarity campaign "Palacete del Embarcadero. Zero Zone of Solidarity" organized by the Port Authority and the Food Bank. Santander 08/05/2020. The President of Cantabria, Miguel Angel Revilla, together with the delegate of the Government, Ainoa Quiñones; the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual; the president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), Jaime González; the vice president of the APS, Francisco Martín and the president of banco de Alimentos de Cantabria, Francisco del Pozo, inaugurated this morning at the Palacete del Embarcadero the solidarity campaign "Palacete del Embarcadero. Zero Zone of Solidarity". It is an initiative of the Port Authority of Santander, in collaboration with the Food Bank of Cantabria, which aims to collect non-perishable food and necessities donated by companies and citizens for distribution among vulnerable individuals and families. It should not be forgotten that the COVID-19 crisis has aggravated the situation of many people by causing a real food alarm. The APS, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility actions, has committed to the Food Bank to develop an information campaign to request citizens and companies and institutions to donate non-perishable food and commodities according to the needs of the Food Bank and deposit them in the facilities of the Palacete del Embarcadero, which will be the receiving point for their daily classification and collection. Numerous companies and institutions are committed to working together to achieve, among all, the success of the campaign. Among them the artist OKUDA who has donated one of his works so that citizens can contemplate it from the place where they deliver their contribution. In addition, masks designed by him will be given to those children who come to donate, until the end of stock. The collection campaign will take place between May and September of this year, and can be extended according to the needs of the Food Bank. Pick-up time will be: -Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 21:00 hours -Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 21:00 hours.
