The "Auto Advance", the world's first "FUEL LNG BATTERY" hybrid technology ship, calls at Santander for the first time

The "Auto Advance", the first "FUEL LNG BATTERY" hybrid technology vessel in the world, calls at Santander for the first time. The ship, owned by United European Car Car Carriers (UECC), will enter from today, in the rotation that the shipping company makes between Santander-Pasajes-Zeebrugge-Southampton-Santander. On the occasion of this first visit to the port of Santander, the director of the Port Authority, Santiago Diaz Fraile, has delivered a metope to the captain of the ship. Santander 25-04-22. The ship "Auto Advance", of the shipping company UECC, has made today its first call in Santander and will become part of the rotation that the shipping company makes between Santander-Pasajes-Zeebrugge-Southhampton-Santander. It is the first hybrid in the world for vehicle transport that, to its dual diesel and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) engines, adds a battery bank that contributes to improve energy efficiency and reduces the ship's polluting emissions. The "Auto Advance", which arrived at the port at 08:00 hours and is scheduled to depart for Pasajes at 12:30 hours, has been consigned by Marmedsa and stowed by Noatum. The vessel, which has loaded six mafis and oversized cargo, has been delivered by the Chinese shipyard of Jiangnan six months ago to UECC and is the first of the three sister ships that the shipping company has ordered to be built. These vessels, the world's most environmentally friendly in their class, measure 169 meters in length and can carry up to 3,600 vehicles spread over 10 decks. On the occasion of this scale, the director of the Port Authority of Santander, Santiago Diaz Fraile, has delivered a commemorative plaque to the captain of the ship, Henryk Laskowski. The ceremony was also attended by José Antonio del Río, Head of HH & BB in UECC and Head of UECC Spain; Juan Carlos Bengoechea, Santander Branch Manager Marmedsa Noatum Maritime Spain and Patricio Arrarte, responsible for road traffic of the APS.
